Welcome To ARCF!!

We are very pleased to share the current situation of Haiti’s children, and the highlights of At-Risk Children Foundation's programs with you. The adult mortality rate due to the social economic conditions, natural disasters, as well as HIV/AIDS in Haiti have led to an augmentation of the number of children who are orphans, and vulnerable. Clean water, basic sanitation, access to health care, and education are limited commodities that are often excluded from individuals and families of lower-economic status. Even more desperate are the children’s population who are trapped in a system that lacks both the resources and the capacity to rescue them.

Today Haiti is a Nation of Children:

Before the 7.0-magnitude earthquake of January 12, Haiti already had 380,000 orphaned children. The deaths of parents crushed under rubble could see the number of orphans double, up to as many as one million, not counting other vulnerable children (OVC). Child Laborer/Restavec children, 250,000. Disabled children, 525,000. Two hundred thousand or more are in orphanages or institutionalized group settings, (source FHI/USAID). This is a substantially higher proportion of orphaned children in institutionalized settings than is found in most other countries. In the long run, the institutional approach has serious negative implications to their lives.

We believe all children deserve the opportunity to thrive, not just survive. Through ARCF’s endeavors we have seen this proven true. People are society’s most valuable resource. It is mankinds responsibility to recognize this, and help build communities where we create capabilities not dependencies, where every child can have a future and dream...

It is the desire of At Risk Children Foundation [ARCf] to create a healthy family oriented environment for children to grow, thrive and succeed. This is accomplished by addressing their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs in order to improve and sustain their quality of life.

Thank you for visiting our site, and learning more about ARCF. We hope that you too will desire to become involved, and make a difference in the lives of these precious children.
